"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."


I love that saying! It sure has a way of putting my life into perspective. I'm not the only one struggling.

It is also a gentle reminder of times when someone has risen above my sour attitude and said something kind, perfectly timed, and it has totally turned my day around. My goal for today is to be that person to someone else, and to not be immediately put off when someone is curt or unpleasant. Perhaps their "battle" is overwhelming at that moment...

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's so easy to miss the "unexpected treasurers" that are placed before us. Sadly, I think I'm among the MOST guilty of being this way. I find myself, day after day, consumed by the mundane details of life. The focus becomes just getting through the day. I'm reasonably certain this was not what God intended when he created the world we live in. Being busy is a good thing -- but being overwhelmed is not. Today, my prayer is that God will help me to embrace the simplest joys in my life, and not to let the mundane stuff distract me from all that is wonderful! Today, I intend to look for the unexpected treasures...
